All of our boards include peg storage pockets sufficient to hold enough pegs to fully use the features of the board. Nearly all of our boards use a pocket with a sliding brass plate for closure except for our travel folder and 4ft split boards.  We use 3/4″ inch thick planks to make our boards. A deck of cards is also 3/4″ thick, so we can’t put card storage in a single layer board. Solutions include our folding boards and also boards with two layers, held together by magnets or hinges. Below is a folding board that stores 2 decks of cards and the pegs (brass cover not shown)

2 track boards are ideal for regular games, between two people. 2 tracks also work well for two teams of two. We also recommend 2 track boards for engagement and wedding gifts where the accent is on two people! 3 track boards add the option of an extra player in a three-hand game but also still works for four playing as pairs. It can make it more difficult to fit in the extra track on some layouts though.. 4 track boards are the most flexible of all, suitable for 2, 3, or 4 players, individually or in teams. If the track has curves, it can be very hard to bend them and still maintain good spacing on the insides of the curves. choosing between these options is largely a matter of personal preference, but is sometimes influenced by the board shape and track layout.

A perfect hand is 29 points, and it happens when a player holds three fives and a jack, then obtains the other five when the “cut” card is turned over. The final five must be the same suit as the jack.

We can add most images and logos to your board. The key to a good image is a quality source image - ideally large with clear outlines and edges. We use a traditional router and v-bit to engrave, then hand-paint the engraving, so half-tones and light shadows are not going to work. We can now also add actual photos onto boards: grumpyguy@heirloomgraphics.com. If you are not sure, please send us the highest resolution version you have or provide a link to it and we'll work from there. There will be times that we will not reccomend using a image and the customer insists, this is when we have you sign a waiver that this item is not recconended and can not be returned.

The price of a cutting board is determined by the type of material you choose (Richlite, HDPE, bamboo, etc), thickness, and length/width of the cutting board.  If you need a hole cut in the board or a puzzle cut there will be a CNC fee of $60. If you need a juice groove added to the board there will be a $15 juice groove charge.

Technically they’re interchangeable but when we ask for short side, we’re looking for the dimensions of the shorter side of the cutting board. When we ask for long side, we’re looking for the dimensions of the longer side of the cutting board. The first drop down for both short side and long should be a whole number while the second drop down should be a fraction. For example, if the cutting board you need measures 10 ½ x 20 ¾, below are the values you should enter in the drop downs:

Short Side: 10
Short Side Fraction: ½
Long Side 20
Long Side Fraction: ¾
Another example is a board measuring 24 x 60 ⅛, below are the values you should enter in the dropdowns:
Short Side: 24
Short Side Fraction: 0
Long Side 64
Long Side Fraction: ⅛

A fraction is a numerical quantity that is not a whole number (e.g. 1/2, 0.5).  To ensure we’re making a cutting board to the right dimensions we require a fractional dimension for both the short and long sides of the cutting board.  Please convert all decimals to fractions and if one of your dimensions doesn’t require a fraction, please select 0 for the fraction drop down.

Bullnose means rounded.  If you select a bull-nosed edge, expect the cutting board to arrive with a rounded edge.  The other option is a standard edge which is similar to saw cut but we deburr the edge which means we neaten and smooth the rough edges of the cutting board.

The standard radius of our rounded corners is ½”.  If you require a different radius, please contact customer support or include the requested radius size in the notes when placing your order.

We proudly offer the following standard sized cutting boards:

12 x 18
15 x 20
18 x 24

Yes we sure do!  If you have the make/model/serial we can determine which cutting board your prep table needs.  If you can’t locate the data plate with the make/model/serial information on it, please provide us with the material, thickness, and length/width dimensions as well as the edge/corner style and we’ll custom make it for you.

Also referred to as juice troughs, juice grooves are one of our most requested customizations. We simply route a small trough around the perimeter of your board to catch drippings from carving meat. This prevents runoff from spilling onto your countertops and making a mess. Standard Juice grooves are 1/2″ thick and cut 1″ off the edge of your cutting board. We charge $15 for boards of any size.

There is a $15.00 upcharge if you need a juice groove on your cutting board.  Please add 5 days onto the lead time for any cutting boards needing a juice groove.

Commonly found in restaurant and commercial kitchens, boards with waste holes provide a quick and easy way to dispose of trash or inedible food. These types of boards are usually found in front of the grill or other areas where food is prepared. Some boards even have multiple holes for added convenience. Hole size and placement is completely up to you!

If you need a hole cut in your board we’ll need to use our CNC router to do that.  Any job that we run on the CNC carries a $60 CNC set up fee – this covers our graphic designers drawing the board in a program compatible with the machine, setting up the machine to run your job, and our CNC operator’s time to cut the board.  Expect to pay for the CNC fee if you need a hole, puzzle cut, or anything that requires the use of the CNC. In addition to the CNC set up fee you’ll need to pay for the board – this is determined by the type of material, thickness, and length/width dimensions of the board.

Another commonality in commercial kitchens, puzzle cuts provide a convenient way for larger size boards to fit in a commercial dishwasher. The snug fit at the puzzle grooves ensures your board will not shift around while food is being prepared. When it’s time for clean up, all you have to do is take apart the puzzle. For smaller dishwashers, we can do multiple puzzle cuts on one board to ensure a perfect fit.

Also commonly referred to as under-counter boards and breadboards, our pull-out cutting boards provide an easy and economical way to save space in your kitchen. If that old wood board under your counter has seen better days, Heirloom Graphics Company makes it easy to design a replacement that fits perfectly!

An antimicrobial is an agent that kills microorganisms or stops their growth.  Our standard boards don’t include this but we offer cutting boards with antimicrobial technology for protecting the product surface against stain and odor-causing bacteria, algae, and fungi – there is a 25% upcharge for this.

You should have received a page with your new board but if you misplaced it or never received it here it is again.

Unpackaging and Care Instructions

FIRST LET US ALL HERE AT HEIRLOOM GRAPHICS SAY THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS FOR SUPPORTING A SMALL LOCAL BUSINESS. IT IS OUR COMMITMENT TO HIGH STANDARDS AND QUALITY THAT WE ARE CERTAIN WILL SHOW THROUGH. ALONG WITH OUR UNMATCHED ATTENTION TO DETAIL, A FEW TIPS AND TRICKS WILL BECOME A FAMILY HEIRLOOM.

Before packaging A final coat of board conditioner was applied to maintain protection during shipping. It is highly possible the board will be slick, and/or oily when you unwrap it. Simply use a clean, dry cloth to wipe off any excess oils.

Important

  1. Never submerge in water

Water is the number one enemy to your cutting board. Not only will it weaken the glue that holds the pieces together it may carry bacteria deep into the wood fibers where they will multiply and grow.

  1. Do not wash in dishwasher
  2. Never place in microwave

To avoid bacteria, you must wash your cutting board immediately after use. Wipe the cutting board with hot soapy water, rinse it with hot water only, and just wipe it dry with a clean dishtowel do not allow it to air dry. Store in a dry area

We recommend treating the board frequently to repel food particles and water, prevent stains and cracks from happening. It’s best to treat the board at least once a month, twice a month if used often, and immediately if the board begins to appear dull or discolored.

It’s important to make sure that the cutting board is clean and dry before applying any oils or treatments.  We strongly recommend applying a coat of our board conditioner, Grumpy’s Love Butter, for the first 4 weeks. This will give it a good head start in life as your cutting board and maintain your one-year warranty.

SHOW YOUR BOARD SOME LOVE

WHENEVER POSSIBLE Cut Lightly when using your wooden cutting board, make sure you are using sharp knives and you place the board on a level sturdy base. Having the sharpest knives possible will prevent cuts to you and avoid gouging your board.

When appropriate apply minimal pressure to avoid creating deep gashes in your wooden cutting board. If your knives are dull sharpen immodestly or have them professionally serviced. You will be surprised at the difference a sharp knife will make in kitchen prep!

Disinfect & deodorize using vinegar The Grumpy Guy recommends keeping a spray bottle of vinegar handy to disinfect & deodorize your wood cutting board or kitchen surface that tolerates the use of Acetic acid, before using it on other items refer to their owners’ manuals. Acetic acid (white vinegar) is an excellent disinfectant for E. coli, Salmonella, and other household bacteria. Spray vinegar on the wood cutting board, let sit for a few minutes and wipe it with a clean damp warm cloth. Allow to completely air dry and then apply a generous coating of Grumpy Guys Love Butter. Follow label instructions

Removing stains & deodorize with baking soda Combine 2 tablespoons of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of table salt, and 3 tablespoons hot water to create a non-toxic paste. Mix these ingredients in a small cup or bowl until a lump-free paste is formed. Scrub the entire surface of the cutting board using your fingers or a damp clean kitchen towel. Finally, wipe it with a warm wet cloth and dry with a dishtowel. This will remove the cutting board’s protective coating. Allow to completely air dry and then apply a generous coating of Grumpy Guys Love Butter. Follow label instructions.

For stubborn stains and minor surface scratches Clean with coarse salt & lemon. Another all-natural cleaning solution from the grumpy guy. First, wash all loose food particles off the board. And make sure the board is complete. Loose food particles off the board. And make sure the board is complete. Dampened with warm water. Then sprinkle the board generously with kosher salt. Refurbishing wood cutting board It is difficult to avoid knife marks from accumulating on your cutting board over the years. The wonderful thing about a wood board is that it can be returned to its original splendor. All you need is three different grits of sandpaper (100, 180, and 240). First sand the board with the more course 100 grit, then the 180 and finish with the fine 240 grit. Once you are done with sanding, wash the board thoroughly and wipe dry and allow it to air let air dry completely then apply Grumpy guys Love Butter following label instructions. If for some reason you do not feel comfortable with this process, we do offer a yearly maintenance program. The details and cost of the service are found on our website. If thorough resurfacing should be needed, other than by the way of hand sanding, please be sure to notify me prior so that I can ensure none of the markings utilized for this board’s identification will be affected.
